Foxx Report

In an article posted on March 2nd, the Better Business Bureau warned of political robocall scams that have been on the rise in North Carolina and around the country. Recently, scammers have been using political fundraising calls to defraud Americans of their personal information and hard-earned money. Callers will claim to be part of a presidential campaign and will ask for donations or personal information over the phone.

To protect yourself and your family, make sure to screen all calls, avoid answering unsolicited calls from numbers you do not recognize, and register your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. As you may have seen in my previous newsletters, I take these matters very seriously. Rest assured, I will continue to keep you updated on these issues so that you remain protected.

Update on Coronavirus

On Wednesday, Congress approved $8.3 billion in funding to combat the Coronavirus. Let me be clear, if America is to lead the way on developing a cure for this deadly virus, we must not rely on inadequate reporting stemming from China’s health authorities. The States are already uniquely equipped to test for the Coronavirus and provide accurate results within 24 hours. I commend President Trump, Vice President Pence, and the Administration for taking a proactive and decisive approach to protecting the American people.

It’s imperative that nursing home communities stay abreast of safety measures to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Rigorous handwashing, proper use of personal protective equipment, and adhering to best practices with regards to sanitary procedures are essential to ensure the safety of residents in these facilities.

Congress and the Administration will continue to work in lockstep to protect the American people from this virus and provide necessary guidance to state and local public health agencies. For the latest updates and information on safety measures, click here

The Yes In My Backyard Act

On Monday, H.R. 4351, the Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Act, passed in the House of Representatives. I’m proud to have been an original cosponsor of this bipartisan piece of legislation that requires local governments receiving federal housing development funds through the Community Development Block Grant program to report on different policies that may affect housing affordability.
