Foxx Report

Every day, a myriad of stories on COVID-19 come to light through television, emails, text messages, online forums, and much more. With so much information cycling through our news feeds, it can be difficult to discern what updates are truly relevant and factual. Recently, I’ve compiled a list of verified local, state, and national resources on my website that will provide you with up-to-date information on COVID-19. Information related to small businesses, travel advisories, and educational updates is included.

When Americans face challenging circumstances, our collective resiliency always propels us forward. Congress, the Administration, and all appropriate health authorities will continue to work in lockstep to implement all protective and necessary measures in an expeditious process to ensure that this virus is eliminated.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act

This past Saturday, the House of Representatives passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) with overwhelming bipartisan support. This legislation provides paid sick leave, free COVID-19 testing, expands food assistance and unemployment benefits, and requires employers to provide additional protections for health care workers. In times of economic growth as well as in times of crisis, Congress should always work ensure that the federal government meets its obligations to the American people. New Scam Alert

As COVID-19 continues to impact the United States, scammers are conducting new, subversive operations that intend to divide the American people. This week, the National Security Agency addressed false rumors of a “national quarantine” that were perpetuated by foreign agents via text messages. As I’ve discussed with you in previous newsletters, it’s imperative that all of us remain attuned to these growing threats.

I strongly encourage you to interact with verified online resources such as CDC.gov, NCDHHS.gov, and Travel.State.Gov, on a regular basis whenever you have questions or need additional information on how to protect yourself and your loved ones. Do not answer unsolicited phone calls, emails, or text messages that claim to provide cures for COVID-19 or make unsubstantiated claims about actions taken by local, state, or federal level agencies.

Next Week

Next week, the House is expected to debate additional legislation to provide support amidst the novel Coronavirus outbreak. Better known as "Phase 3" of Congress' continued work on this matter, the House expects to bring up S. 3548 - the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, consisting of Senate Republican proposals to provide direct assistance to American families and small businesses, bolster the healthcare response, and stabilize the economy.

While changes are possible as negotiations continue, I will continue to work diligently to inform the public of the decisions being made at this critical time.

Sincerely,
