So-called “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”, or DEI, is nothing more than a woke addiction that the Biden-Harris administration simply cannot quit. A new report from Parents Defending Education (PDE) has revealed that the Biden-Harris administration spent over $1 billion in taxpayer money on DEI programming in schools across the nation. Indeed, this report is jaw-dropping, and it further confirms that this administration was more concerned about contorting the minds of America’s future leaders, rather than educating them. Fortunately for parents, students, and hardworking taxpayers, DEI, like the rest of this administration, is being bagged up and placed on the curb come January – it’s time to take out the trash.

Here are some eye-popping findings in this report so you can see for yourself how addicted the Biden-Harris administration has been to DEI. This is downright concerning:

  • Total of DEI Grants from 2021 to Present: $1,002,522,304.81
  • Total number of Education Department DEI Grants from 2021 to Present: 229
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Hiring: $489,883,797.81
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Programming: $343,337,286
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Based Mental health/Social Emotional Learning (SEL): $169,301,221

Some Key Takeaways

Multiple grants feature programming that advances race-based teacher recruiting, hiring, and training, including the use of race-based affinity groups.

Several grants were issued for youth activism programming widely used in far-left ethnic studies courses.

My Bill Just Passed

Hiring people based on their unique, individual skills is something I have promoted all my life – it’s precisely why I introduced the bipartisan Chance to Compete Act. As the largest employer in the nation, with almost 2.2 million employees, it’s time for the federal government to base its hiring on verifiable skills instead of degrees one has or the self-evaluation of applicants. My legislation makes targeted reforms so that hardworking taxpayer dollars are not wasted on hiring individuals who do not possess the necessary qualifications for a job. I’m pleased to see my bill’s passage in the House, and I look forward to President Biden signing it into law.

 My Latest Interview

Recently, I joined “The Big Money Show” on Fox Business to talk about the Biden-Harris administration’s latest attempt to “cancel” student loan debt. I also discussed abolishing the Department of Education. As we all know, the word “education” is not in the Constitution as a responsibility of the federal government. So, what we need to do is devolve the work that’s being done now at the Department of Education here in Washington and place it back in the hands of states and localities. This is going to take some careful work; it's not something that you just do with the stroke of a pen. We need to do it legislatively and do it right.

Quote of The Week

“Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.”

-Calvin Coolidge
