An open border that offers unfettered access into our country is one of the greatest national security threats we face today. That’s the truth, and you won’t hear the Biden-Harris administration acknowledge it in public – or at all for that matter. The recently released August report from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) is a serious cause for concern, and the alarm bells continue to ring so loudly the only way you cannot hear them is by willfully ignoring them. I’ll show you why that’s the case, and why Kamala Harris, the appointed “Border Czar” for the administration, has failed on every metric.
The report details how, in August, there were 107,503 illegal alien encounters at the southern border. If you’re an avid viewer of college football, here’s a quick fact that will put this number into perspective: the number of illegal aliens who were encountered at the border last month is almost equal to the maximum capacity of Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor – the largest college football stadium in the nation. Unfortunately, this catastrophe is like an uncapped fire hydrant with water gushing into the street – it is not slowing down until someone acts and turns off the spigot. There are more facts you need to know on this boondoggle.
Since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office:
- There have been over 10 million illegal alien encounters nationwide.
- There have been over 8.3 million illegal alien encounters at the southern border alone.
- Roughly two million “gotaways” have evaded CBP.
- There have been more known “gotaways” than in the previous decade combined.
This week, House Republicans passed two additional pieces of legislation, the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act and the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act that add to our growing list of solutions to secure the border and protect Americans. I was proud to vote in favor of both. Rest assured that I’ll continue to call attention to the catastrophe occurring at our southern border, and I’ll continue to support commonsense border security policies like those that President Trump correctly implemented during his presidency. We should return to true border security immediately – and nothing less.
ICYMI: Fixing Higher Education
Recently, I penned an op-ed in the Washington Times discussing how Republicans have a plan to fix higher education in America. One specific issue I call attention to is the Biden-Harris administration’s schemes to bailout student loans on the backs of taxpayers – an issue I have called to your attention many times in the past. Here’s a short excerpt:
“Students, families, and taxpayers can no longer afford the status quo when it comes to financing college. As an elected official, it is my duty to help foster freedom, good competition, and an environment where every American has a pathway to success.”
