Foxx Report

The proverb “Honesty is the best policy” will always ring true – though the federal government, to the surprise of no one, frequently fails to follow it. Case in point, did you happen to read the news on Wednesday of the gargantuan revision of jobs data by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)? This is not the first time that I’ve called your attention to this data, and the misleading caricature the Biden administration has tried to sell the American people about where the economy really stands. I’m going to serve up a piping hot plate of facts that some will surely want you to look away from and ignore.

As a recap, you’ll recall I recently covered the July jobs report that fell far short of predictions from economists. It was predicted 175,000 jobs would have been added in the month of July, but only 114,000 came to fruition. I also pointed out how previously issued reports were being quietly scrubbed out of view and many jobs were simply vanishing into thin air. This week, the chickens came home to roost. From April of 2023 to March of 2024, the actual job growth across the nation was 30% less than what BLS reported – roughly 818,000 jobs that were never actually created. This is the largest downward revision by BLS in 15 years.

Below are a few sectors of the market where there were large decreases in the number of jobs that were allegedly created:

  • Professional and business services (358,000 fewer jobs created)
  • Leisure and hospitality (150,000 fewer jobs created)
  • Manufacturing (115,000 fewer jobs created)
  • Trade, transportation, and utilities (104,000 fewer jobs created)

As you can see, the federal government has been hard at work trying to conceal the reality of where the economy really stands today – its magic eraser that has been used to make these jobs disappear has been worn down to a nub. This is exactly why I call your attention to the facts – no matter the issue – and why it’s important to apply the utmost scrutiny and skepticism to everything the Biden administration says and does.

Columbia’s Invertebrate Administration

I’ve released a new document showcasing Columbia University’s failure to discipline students who engaged in extreme conduct violations, including breaking into, and occupying, Hamilton Hall and participating in antisemitic encampments that made the University a hostile environment for Jewish students. Despite Columbia previously promising that the students who occupied Hamilton Hall would “face expulsion,” the vast majority remain in good standing. By allowing its own disciplinary process to be thwarted by radical students and faculty, Columbia has waved the white flag in surrender while offering up a get-out-of-jail-free card to those who participated in these unlawful actions. Breaking into campus buildings or creating antisemitic hostile environments like the encampment should never be given a single degree of latitude—the university’s willingness to do just that is reprehensible.

The Impeachment Inquiry

On Monday, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, of which I am a member, the Committee on the Judiciary, and the Committee on Ways and Means released a report on the impeachment inquiry of President Biden. President Biden’s legacy is marked by abuse of public office, corruption, and obstruction. Americans now know the truth because of House Republicans’ investigation. The entire Biden influence peddling model relied on Joe Biden’s presence—at meetings, on the phone, or at dinners—to demonstrate his family members’ influence over him, and he repeatedly provided it. Throughout our impeachment inquiry of President Biden, the Biden-Harris Administration has sought to obstruct us every step of the way. Despite this obstruction, we have exposed the truth to the American people, and they now know the extent of President Biden’s corruption.

Quote of The Week

“Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.”

-Winston Churchill
