The only people who should vote in American elections are American citizens. Period. This is a simple, commonsense principle of election integrity that everyone should agree on. How can we have safe and secure elections in this country when countless illegal aliens are allowed to cast votes? For example, in Washington, D.C., noncitizens can vote in elections after living in the district for only 30 days. Imagine, for just a moment, if this kind of policy were to be adopted in every state. It is a concerning prospect, and one that would do irreparable damage. This week, House Republicans took a stand in favor of election integrity and passed a critical bill I’m excited to tell you more about.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act requires individuals to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. It also closes specific loopholes that currently allow non-citizens to register to vote. Weak voter registration laws make it possible for noncitizens to register and vote in federal elections while campaign finance loopholes allow noncitizens to fund U.S. election activities. Both can affect the outcome of elections.

According to a study published in 2014 that examined the 2008 and 2010 elections specifically, it was found that noncitizens not only had voted in U.S. elections, but also that the votes of these noncitizens likely contributed to outcomes in certain races. You may also be interested to know that states such as Massachusetts, Ohio, and Virginia have recently removed many noncitizens from their respective voting rolls – and that these n0ncitizens had, in fact, voted previously. Americans deserve to have confidence in their system of elections – not doubt or concern.

I’m proud to have cast my vote in favor of the SAVE Act, and to stand alongside my House Republican colleagues in defense of election integrity yet again. 198 House Democrats voted against election integrity. My position on safeguarding the integrity of our elections, as well as ensuring a free, transparent, and fair process, remains crystal clear. That’s why I’m a member of the House Election Integrity Caucus. This caucus holds the goal of ensuring that every American, in every state and territory, has confidence in free, fair, accurate, and transparent elections. The People’s House has done its job, and now the U.S. Senate should do the same.

Defending Women’s Sports

On Thursday, House Republicans passed H.J. Res. 165, a Congressional Review Act resolution to strike down the Biden administration’s Title IX rule that endangers women and would end a woman’s right to female-only organized athletics. Title IX ushered in a golden era for women’s competition and education. There is sanctity in the community and tradition of these memories, these spaces, and these opportunities for young girls. That’s why I want to preserve Title IX and ensure the same opportunities for the next generation of daughters.

New Scam Alert

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Charlotte Field Office and U.S. Attorney's Offices for the Eastern, Middle, and Western districts of North Carolina, there is a new and elaborate scam making its way across the state. Scammers are calling and emailing individuals claiming that they have failed to report for jury duty. These scammers claim that a federal warrant for arrest will be issued for not complying, and the only way to solve the issue is to pay a fine at a designated location – either at a currency machine or kiosk. As I am sure you can imagine, this is a serious issue, and one that you need to know about.
