We have all been so touched by the countless first responders, volunteers, private citizens, non-profit groups, and businesses that have stepped up to help western North Carolina – but the work is far from over, and the road to recovery is going to be very long indeed. As communities across our area continue to recover, there are many resources available to those who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene’s devastation. Below, I’ve included additional information that I believe will be helpful for people to know – and this information is also included on my website which is regularly updated:

Disaster Recovery Centers

Alleghany County DRC: Blue Ridge Business Development Center (BDC), 115 Atwood St., Sparta, N.C. 28675

Postal Updates

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has established a series of alternate locations due to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. By clicking here, you can view a list of alternate USPS locations as well as any relevant updates on closures and impacted sites.

State and Local Resources

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has a dedicated webpage with information on disaster recovery services that are being provided across the state of North Carolina. Posted on this webpage are sets of contact information provided by state agencies, local governments, and community-based organizations.

While helping constituents in the 5th District recover from Hurricane Helene has been a major focus over the past month, my district offices are continuing to assist constituents with casework.
