Foxx Report

In four short days, Americans in every community, town, and city across our great country will make their voices heard following nearly two years of utter dysfunction and mayhem caused by one party rule in Washington. The policies we have seen erode the Constitution, our God-given rights, and the values upon which our Republic was built are pure hogwash – it’s time for real solutions to fix our country and pull it out of the rut it has been forced into. Over the past four weeks, I have shared the Republican plan, our Commitment to America, that will do just that. However, I want to leave you with a final thought, and one that continues to guide me in my work every single day: upholding accountability for every hardworking taxpayer is a mandate – it is never optional.

What you may not know is that to date, House Republicans have sent more than 500 requests for information and documents from the Biden administration to get answers for you, the American people. As the Republican Leader of the House Committee on Education and Labor, I’ve sent more than 70 oversight letters to Department of Labor (DOL), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) as well as nearly 60 oversight letters to the Department of Education (ED). On the House Committee on Oversight, I’ve been equally active in taking the Biden administration to task for its abysmal failures. Again, I firmly believe that upholding accountability is never optional.

There’s still a great deal of work to be done, especially when considering the stark inaction by Washington Democrats on addressing:

  • The origins of COVID-19.
  • President Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
  • The Department of Justice targeting concerned parents.
  • The authoritarian lockdowns that harmed America’s students.
  • The brazen politicization of the FBI.

These are but a few of the countless catastrophes that must be addressed, and more inaction and negligence are not appropriate answers. Republicans continue to stand at the ready, as we always have, to deliver for families and hardworking Americans across the country. We do not have a second to lose.

ICYMI: Undercutting American Energy

Recently, I joined House Oversight Committee Ranking Member James Comer (K-KY) and Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Ranking Member Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), in sending a letter to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm about the Biden administration’s potential plans to ban oil and gas exports. Here is a short excerpt of our letter:

“A ban would temporarily oversaturate domestic refineries ill-prepared to process additional levels of light sweet crude since the U.S. is currently equipped to refine principally heavy crude. In addition to potentially imposing an export ban, President Biden is further depleting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve ahead of the midterm elections. But after President Biden emptied more of our vital stockpiles than all previous presidents combined, the SPR now sits at its lowest levels since establishment.”

North Carolina Spotlight

This week, U.S. Forest Service announced that this year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree was selected from Pigsah National Forest in Western North Carolina. Following its harvesting on Wednesday, November 2nd, the 78-foot red spruce began its 14-day journey to Washington where it will be featured on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Indeed, this is a tremendous honor, and one that continues to underscore how North Carolina’s agricultural community is second to none.

Quote of The Week

“When you want to help people, you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.”
