Foxx Report

As former Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis remarked more than a century ago, “Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants.” Today, that mantra is more important than ever, and it is what drives the work of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability – of which I am a member. Recently, the committee obtained thousands of pages of financial documents that reveal new information about the Biden family’s influence peddling schemes. I can tell you that what you’re about to read is jarring.

According to the documents that the committee has received, the Biden family raked in millions of dollars from foreign nationals – not for business related services but rather for access and influence. These shadowy transactions were concealed until now. We have learned that more than 20 limited liability companies (LLCs) were created by Biden family members and business associates to temporarily park different allocations of money – over $10 million, in fact, from foreign nationals and their related companies. What’s particularly troubling, according to these financial documents, is that while the Biden family’s business associates were collecting money from these sources, incremental payments were being funneled to the Biden family through a series of bank accounts.

To make matters worse, the Committee has also learned that Chinese nationals – as well as companies with direct ties to Chinese intelligence and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) hid the source of these direct payments to the Biden family. These actions appear to be a deliberate attempt to engage in financial deception. What’s more, Hunter Biden, the President’s son, received money directly into the account of his company from a Chinese-controlled entity. The rot runs deep.

Last week, I joined Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and members of the committee to discuss these findings and the work we will be undertaking in the weeks and months ahead to bring more information to light and create solutions to block this kind of corruption. The American people deserve nothing less than full accountability, transparency, and the truth. Rest assured that I will continue working diligently alongside my colleagues on the Oversight and Accountability Committee to expose the facts that have long been hidden from view.

A Concerning Red Flag

Recently, I led a letter alongside House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY), and Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX) calling on Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to provide answers about the Department’s decision to waive income verification requirements for student loan borrowers who enroll in income-driven repayment (IDR) plans. We remain concerned that individuals may fraudulently misrepresent their income to reduce their loan payments and ultimately have their student loans transferred to taxpayers. Normally, borrowers must provide their tax return information to enroll in an IDR plan and must recertify that information each year. However, the Biden Administration is allowing student loan borrowers to self-certify their income.

A Record Low

The National Assessment of Educational Progress recently revealed that history and civics scores among students hit record lows. The scores are staggering. Eighty-seven percent of eighth graders have only a basic or below basic knowledge of American history while only two out of ten of those students are proficient in civics. For a decade, we have watched these scores decline. The culprit isn’t a singular event but a culture shift where an ideologically charged curriculum is rapidly replacing a core understanding of our nation’s history and our role in it.
