President Biden’s Orwellian political agenda has no place in America’s public squares – above all else, the Constitution should serve as our north star. By now, I am sure you have heard the unsettling news about President Biden’s so-called “Disinformation Governance Board” that is being established within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It has already been examined within the mainstream media, but I firmly believe that you deserve a more thorough explanation of that this means. Simply put, this so-called “Disinformation Governance Board” is entirely un-American, and it poses a direct threat to the Constitution.

The first domino to fall, should this board become fully operational, is the First Amendment. Think about it. By creating this board, the U.S. government would view any dissenting viewpoint – no matter how miniscule – as an existential threat. Imagine how our individual liberties and freedoms could be stripped away entirely.

Last Wednesday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appeared before a House subcommittee and confirmed the creation of this “Disinformation Governance Board” and its purported goal of combatting online disinformation. He went on to say that his department is focused on disinformation spreading among minority communities before the 2022 elections. Do you really believe that’s the case?

For an administration that has such a troubled relationship with the truth, the creation of this move is as hypocritical as ever. Will this board investigate the false narratives that have been pushed by this administration regarding the southern border? What about the claims that Vladimir Putin is the cause of surging inflation? How about the demonstrably false claims this administration has made about Hunter Biden’s laptop? Or will it simply serve as a cudgel for this administration to use against its political opponents?

Last Friday, I joined 18 of my Republican colleagues on the House Oversight Committee in sending a letter to Secretary Mayorkas demanding answers on why the Biden administration continues to suppress free speech and discredit legitimate criticism as disinformation. Make no mistake, President Biden’s Orwellian agenda poses a direct threat to our liberties, and I refuse to be silent on this issue. I’ll hold this administration accountable every step of the way, and I will not give in because I know what’s truly at stake.

President Biden’s Budget
