Do you have an extra $493 per month to spend, or even an extra $6,000 per year? That’s the average cost that American households will shoulder due to President Biden’s inflation catastrophe. In June, the needle of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was jolted to 9.1% – the largest 12-month increase since the period ending in December of 1981. Now, for millions of Americans, achieving the American dream comes with a price hike.

When you look at the loss of annual income for Americans, you’ll find that the President’s inflation catastrophe has cost workers over $3,000 in annual income. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy put it this way: “Think about this: Inflation is so high that if you've had a constant salary for the last year, it’s like you’ve worked more than a month without pay.” From June of 2021 to June of 2022, real average hourly earnings plummeted by 3.6%, seasonally adjusted. Indeed, inflation is a pickpocket that has only been emboldened over the past year and a half thanks to Democrats’ reckless spending in Washington.

What exactly are Americans paying more for under 9.1% inflation? Here are just a few examples:

  • Gasoline is UP 59.9%
  • Energy is UP 41.6%
  • Eggs are UP 33.1%
  • Butter is UP 21.3%
  • Chicken is UP 18.6%

You may not be surprised to learn that over half of Americans say the middle class has not benefitted from this administration’s failed policies. Here’s the bottom line: I continue to oppose the reckless spending sprees of Washington Democrats that put us into this mess, and I’m fighting every day to put an end to their disastrous policies. Americans deserve better.

Protecting God’s Most Precious Gift

In a hasty attempt to score political points, House Democrats recently rushed through two tyrannical bills that would expedite the murder of innocent babies in the womb: the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” and the so-called “Ensuring Access to Abortion Act”. Let me be very clear, I stood up and cast strong “NO” votes against both bills. An outright denial of life for the most vulnerable – who cannot speak for themselves – is in no way justified. No amount of fancy wordplay or diversion tactics like these two bills will convince me otherwise.

ICYMI: The President’s Pathetic Pension Promise

President Biden’s radical multiemployer pension bailout is simply a gift to his union allies. Operating under the presumption that throwing more money at failing and mismanaged multiemployer pension plans will cause them to stop hemorrhaging is a laughable approach. Instead of putting in the hard work and drafting bipartisan legislation, the Left gave unions a bailout. The responsibility to safeguard American taxpayers was disregarded entirely.

In my recent speech on the House floor, I put this administration on notice. The President serves all Americans – not just union bosses.
