We can both agree that any attack against the sanctity of human life tears the moral fabric of our great country. From conception until natural death, life should be respected at all stages. Few things demean the sanctity of human life more than elective abortion.

Sadly, Washington Democrats continue to ram their pro-abortion policies through Congress. Last year, they rushed through H.R. 3755, the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act, an elaborate smokescreen intended to obscure a radical pro-abortion agenda. You might recall that I highlighted this abhorrent bill in my September 24th newsletter to you last year. Thankfully, on Wednesday of last week, Democrats suffered a crippling defeat after the Women’s Health Protection Act failed to advance in the United States Senate.

The topic of abortion has flooded the headlines as of late – it’s an issue that the left has seized upon and has crafted narratives that normalize this barbaric practice. In fact, the House Pro-Choice Caucus recently sent out messaging guidance on abortion to their Democrat colleagues. They have labeled their memo as “Abortion Messaging Do’s and Don’ts”. Yes, their new tactics are as deceptive as they sound. I urge you to read this article.

Instead of glorifying this awful act of desperation, we ought to grieve for the tens of millions of Americans who never had a chance to take their first breath, to see their mother’s face, or even cry for help. Children in the womb are innocent lives who do not deserve death.

I refuse to normalize abortion and I reject its very premise. We live in a society that mistakes choice for liberty and denies the dignity of unborn life. Those who are attempting to normalize the destruction of the innocent unborn do so through language that denies what they are doing. Allow me to define some of the terms:

  • “Women’s health” – abortion or destruction of innocent unborn babies.
  • “Reproductive freedom” – the ability to murder a child out of convenience.
  • “Abortion rights” – robbing another of life.
  • “Pro-choice” – robbing another of life.

It is important that we not allow these terms to obscure what is happening to millions of unborn babies. Life is a precious gift from God, and it should never be squandered under any circumstance. Period.

Protecting The Integrity of SCOTUS

Recently, I joined my Republican colleagues on the House Oversight Committee in sending a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting all documents and communications related to any steps the Justice Department is taking to enforce federal law and ensure the protection of Supreme Court Justices. In our letter, we lay out the case as to why far left idealogues and extremists have likely violated federal law by recently picketing at the Supreme Court Justices’ residences with the goal of influencing or intimidating them. Our system of law and order must stand firm against any illegal attempts to intimidate justices.

The America COMPETES Act

Last week, I spoke at the COMPETES Act conference committee – a temporary, ad hoc panel composed of House and Senate conferees formed for the purpose of reconciling differences in legislation that has passed both chambers – and urged conferees of both chambers to address disastrous provisions that will harm job creators and put students in danger. Here is a short excerpt of my remarks:

“In the education space, this bill infringes on the privacy of every American college student by creating a federal database to track students throughout their lives without their consent. This sounds like an idea from the National People's Congress, not the U.S. Congress. It’s hard to believe we are talking about this, given reports this month about the Education Department providing Facebook with the private, personal information of students and families without their knowledge.”

Quote of The Week

“Every life is precious to God. God created every one of us. He gave us a soul, and that soul will live as long as God lives.”
