I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: you deserve better than the hand you have been dealt by Washington Democrats. You deserve a government that is accountable, and one that never forsakes transparency under any circumstance. But under one-party rule in Washington, it’s as if those two simple principles are now moot. Do you believe that this kind of behavior, that has become the new norm, is acceptable? I believe it’s outrageous, and I’m taking a stand alongside my Republican colleagues to fight back.

What is the balm that will mend the cracks that have only grown bigger in our time-tested institutions under one-party rule? What serves as our guidepost in fixing the country and serving the American people the right way? The Commitment to America is the answer. The federal government should not be in the business of opposing the American people – it must work for them.

Our plan to hold the federal government accountable hinges upon three specific pillars:

  • Preserving our constitutional freedoms.
  • Conducting rigorous oversight to rein-in government abuses of power and corruption.
  • Restoring the people’s voice by ending special treatment for Members of Congress by repealing proxy voting and increasing accountability in the election process.

The disarray, incompetence, and negligence in Washington must be put to an end. Hardworking taxpayers and families across our great country demand it, and Republicans are ready with viable solutions to the greatest challenges our country faces. It’s time for a change in leadership in Washington. To learn more about the Commitment to America, and our plan to ensure a government that is accountable, click here.

Honoring Vietnam Veterans

In partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, I am inviting all Vietnam-era veterans residing in North Carolina's 5th Congressional District to be honored in a Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony and receive a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin this Veterans Day. All 5th District constituents who served in our nation’s armed forces during the Vietnam War-era (November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975) are eligible to participate and receive a lapel pin. The Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin is a commemorative pin presented to Vietnam War veterans across the country as a lasting memento of the nation’s thanks for their service and sacrifice.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Eastern North Carolina recently released a list of financial threats that college students face every day on their campuses. From fake credit cards to I.D. theft, there are countless pitfalls that students run the risk of encountering. Thankfully, the BBB has compiled a list of warning signs, as well as tips, that can help students protect their money and sensitive information.
