When will President Biden realize that border security is national security? The catastrophe at the southern border continues to pose a direct threat to our country, and yet, nothing is being done to secure the border and deter the ever-growing influx of illegal immigrants. One would think that the administration would respond expediently and decisively to this threat, but what we’ve seen is the exact opposite. In fact, last Friday, the Biden administration announced that it would rescind a key mechanism, Title 42, that has helped expel immigrants at the border since March of 2020.
“Title 42” refers to COVID-19 emergency powers granted to the Secretary of Homeland Security, and by extension, Customs and Border Patrol that allows the agency to immediately deport illegal immigrants back to their home countries. Title 42 essentially allows for automatic deportation of any migrant who may introduce communicable diseases into the United States. It is a commonsense policy that deserves to remain intact.
Recently, I signed on to two letters, led by Representative Glenn Grothman (R-WI) and Representative James Comer (R-KY) respectively, in which we demand answers as to why Title 42 has been removed and how the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is preparing to avoid a catastrophic situation at the southwest border. What you may not know is that President Biden already used Title 42 1.7 million times, and it was responsible for over half of the expulsions at the southern border in February. So, why the change of heart now?
Think about this: a record number of 9,000 illegal immigrants were encountered at the southern border from March 28th to March 29th. The United States will soon hit one million illegal border crossings in just the first half of this fiscal year – which began six months ago in October. OVER 300,000 illegal immigrants evaded Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) in just the last 6 months - 62,000 in March alone. In case you did not know, these illegal immigrants are coming from 160 different countries. This is an issue that I take very seriously, and I will continue to call out the Biden administration on its abysmal failures in protecting our national security and the American people.
My Latest Op-Ed
It is unquestionable that parents have the right to make important decisions regarding their child’s well-being. Unfortunately, an increasing number of school districts are denying parents this fundamental right. Too many “woke” school administrators now see it as their duty to indoctrinate instead of educate. This is creating a catastrophe within education. Rather than addressing the legitimate concerns of parents, many school boards are trying to obscure these policies from view — and the dangerous incidents that occur at schools because of them.

Unleashing Energy Freedom In America
Energy freedom in America cannot wait – we must unleash it right this second. This week, I signed on as a cosponsor to six bills that are before the House Committee on Natural Resources that will unleash America's domestic energy potential, restart onshore and offshore lease sales and require the timely issuance of permits to drill. Right now, President Biden’s assault on energy freedom is hurting hardworking Americans and their families – with no end in sight. We need an all-of-the-above approach to solve this catastrophe, and I believe that these six bills offer up solutions that we desperately need:
- The Unleashing American Energy Act
- The Securing American Energy and Investing in Resiliency Act
- The Energy Permitting Certainty Act
- The Promoting Energy Independence and Transparency Act
- The Restore Onshore Energy Production Act
- The Strategy to Secure Offshore Energy Act
