Foxx Report for the Week of October 23, 2017 |
|
On Thursday the House approved the House budget resolution as amended by the United States Senate. This legislation establishes the budget for the federal government for Fiscal Year 2018 – and importantly – paves the way for comprehensive tax reform.
Our nation’s tax code has gone without meaningful reform for the last thirty-one years. That’s thirty-one years of hardworking American taxpayers spending millions of hours and dollars to comply with an antiquated tax system that hurts American families.
Despite what much of the mainstream media is reporting, Republicans in Congress and the President are working together as a unit to provide the tax relief our country so desperately needs. To learn more about how comprehensive tax reform will give North Carolina 5th District residents bigger paychecks and higher wages, click here.
Time is Precious
On average, Americans spend 2.6 billion hours filing their individual income tax returns. This is time poorly spent, and that is why we’re working for tax reform that will allow taxpayers to file on something as simple as a postcard. Please click the image below for more information.

Protecting the Innocent
For years, the heinous terrorist organization Hizballah has committed horrendous atrocities around the globe. In order to stand against Hizballah and protect U.S. allies – like Israel – the House passed several measures this week that will sanction regimes like Iran for financing Hizballah’s recruiting efforts and also expand sanctions against anyone providing material support to those involved in its human rights abuses. Additionally, I was pleased to join my colleagues in the House by supporting H.R. 3342, the Sanctioning Hizballah’s Use of Civilians as Defenseless Shields Act, in order to help protect innocent civilians from being used as human shields by Hizballah terrorists.

What’s Coming Up
Next week, the House will debate legislation to protect seniors’ access to Medicare by repealing the Independent Payment Advisory Board, a panel of unelected bureaucrats established under Obamacare with the aim of rationing health care. We can make Medicare sustainable without having to resort to the tactics of Obamacare, and I look forward to next week’s vote.
Sincerely,
