Foxx Report for the Week of December 4, 2017

Recently, Forbes Magazine reported that North Carolina is the number one state for business. North Carolina’s prolific business atmosphere is largely due to the North Carolina general assembly cutting personal and corporate tax rates. Republicans in the general assembly took over in 2010, and the business climate has prospered. On the federal level, Congress is close to duplicating that success. We will soon achieve historic tax reform that will unleash job growth and increase paychecks. This week, I encouraged my colleagues in the House to follow North Carolina’s outstanding lead by supporting the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Click here to watch:

Defending the Constitution

For far too long, responsible gun-owners with concealed carry permits have been left unable to defend themselves while traveling in other states with similar laws for fear of prosecution. This week, I voted to defend the Second Amendment by supporting H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. This Act will empower responsible gun-owners who hold a concealed carry permit to defend themselves on the road as well as at home. Click the image to learn more:

Happy Birthday

Nothing is more important than family and this week, I was pleased to wish two special constituents from Wilkes County a Happy Birthday. Mrs. Lexie Holbrook and her great-great-great nephew, Mr. Jake Wagoner of Wilkes County, recently celebrated their respective birthdays. One hundred years and five days may separate their birthdays, but they share a strong bond. To learn more about Lexie and Jake, click here:

Christmas in the Capitol

The President and First Lady Trump hosted a lovely Christmas Ball at the White House this week. I am very grateful to have a President that recalls that Jesus is the reason for the season, and who is unafraid to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I was honored to attend.

What’s Coming Up

Next week, the House will take up legislation to bring more accountability on the Iranian regime. The House will consider H.R. 1638, the Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act, and H.R. 4324, the Strengthening Oversight of Iran’s Access to Finance Act. These bills will work collectively to strengthen oversight over Iran’s financial transactions with Western countries.

Sincerely,
