Commonsense, pro-growth policies – like what our Republican majorities continue to advance –allow the American people to flourish in many ways. One such policy is the Working Families Tax Cuts Act that, as you know, was signed into law a little more than a year ago. One year on, and the American people continue to reap the benefits. One such benefit that I will touch upon today is how money has been returned to American families and workers.

Here are a handful of facts, per the U.S. Treasury, that show how the Working Families Tax Cuts Act has delivered larger paychecks and larger tax refunds to American families and workers across the nation:

• $325 billion in total tax refunds for 2026 have been issued to American families.
  
• $82+ billion in individual tax relief has already been claimed with 97% of filers having received a tax cut.
  
• The average refund this filing season is over $3,400, an increase of 11% compared to last filing season.
  
• Over six million filers have claimed No Tax on Tips, with an average deduction of over $7,100.
  
• 29+ million workers claimed No Tax on Overtime, averaging $3,100+.
  
• 35+ million seniors have claimed the Enhanced Deduction for Seniors, with an average deduction of over $7,500.
  
• 1.4+ million Americans deducted interest on new American-made vehicle loans, averaging $1,800+.

And let’s not forget how if the Working Families Tax Cuts Act WAS NOT passed and signed into law, none of these would have been possible. In fact, the American people would have faced the largest tax increase in the history of this country. That did not happen thanks to our Republican majorities and President Trump. The results are REAL, and as is evidenced by the facts I’ve provided you, the American people are reaping the benefits.

U.S. Service Academy Day

The 5^th District’s annual U.S. Service Academy Day will be held on Saturday, September 12th, from 1-3PM at Surry Community College’s Elkin Center at 1461 N Bridge St, Elkin, NC  28621. Representatives from all five U.S. Service Academies will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on their respective application processes. This event is open to all students, parents, counselors, and educators in North Carolina’s 5th District.

New Scam Alert

There’s a rising scam targeting consumers in North Carolina that you should know about. Scammers posing as law enforcement officers, court officials, and individuals representing government agencies are contacting North Carolinians and demanding payment for alleged overdue court costs and other alleged penalties. Some common payment demands from scammers involve the purchasing of gift cards, sending cryptocurrency, cash deposits at ATMs, and wire transfers. In response to these scams, the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association and the North Carolina Judicial Branch have launched a campaign to help inform consumers so that they can be protected.
