The talking heads in the mainstream media are gnashing their teeth again this week because our Republican majority continues to deliver for the American people. They’ve drawn up misleading headlines and pushed out article after article attempting to draw a distorted caricature of our work in service to you, and we’ve proven them wrong yet again. It was a week of monumental importance in the People’s House, and I am proud to report that we have advanced a handful of legislative measures to address issues that are important to the nation and to the American people. Allow me to detail them for you.

Here are the topline bills that House Republicans passed this week:

H. Con. Res 113, the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2027, begins the process to provide urgent, necessary resources for our nation’s warfighters, reinforced election integrity measures, and support for the hardworking men and women of our agricultural community so that our nation’s food supply and food security remain as strong as they can possibly be.

H.R. 9770, a Continuing Resolution that would fully fund the federal government through December 4th of this year.

H.R. 8884, the Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act, would allow disabled Americans who want to join the workforce – to better their own lives – to do so without having to worry about whether their disability benefits will abruptly disappear.

H.R. 8800, National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027, the keystone of Congress’ mandate to provide for the common defense of the nation, delivers for our nation’s servicemembers, allocates the resources necessary to maintain a strong posture of defense and deterrence, and confronts waste, fraud, and abuse head on.

H.R. 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act, prohibits members of Congress, their spouses, or dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks while also implementing the requirement – that the American people overwhelmingly support – of requiring a photo ID to vote in federal elections.

H.R. 6955, the Main Street Capital Access Act, makes life more affordable for Americans – while also empowering Main Street – by ensuring that community lenders are no longer burdened by ill-advised mandates that make it harder for them to serve families, small businesses, and local economies.

From advancing these bills through the Rules Committee to leading debate on the House floor, I’m extremely proud to have done my part in ensuring that these pieces of legislation passed out of the House. Our work in service to you is far from over, and I’m very much looking forward to getting down to business once more when the House reconvenes.

A Worthwhile Read

The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) released a pertinent report entitled A Broadside for the Nation, Preparing College Students for Informed Citizenship. The Broadside is reminiscent of the many broadsides published during the revolutionary period that were so important in informing the people along with getting their support for the revolution. The report’s authors call attention to how colleges and universities should restore the requirement that every college student complete a semester-long course on American civic education so that college graduates can know the American story. I wholeheartedly agree with this position – we have just celebrated 250 years of American greatness, and we ought to do all we can to inform our future leaders of the values and principles that make America the greatest country in the world and ensure these principles and ideals are passed on to patriotic Americans for generations to come.

Confronting Waste, Fraud, and Abuse

In case you missed it, the United States Department of the Treasury announced this week that it successfully blocked millions of taxpayer dollars from being sent to deceased individuals. A screening conducted by the Department identified more than 4,900 improper payments that totaled close to $100 million. Thanks to President Trump’s Executive Order targeting waste, fraud, and abuse within government, this was able to have happened. Once more, our unified Republican efforts to confront waste, fraud, and abuse are continuing to deliver for hardworking taxpayers.
