The naysayers in the mainstream media won’t acknowledge this simple truth, but I’m happy to: the American economy continues to grow thanks to the pro-growth policies of President Trump and our Republican majorities in Congress. And where might one find proof? Just simply look at the May jobs report that was issued last week. Let’s turn to the facts that will paint a vivid and accurate picture.
In May, the U.S. economy added 139,000 JOBS. This was the THIRD STRAIGHT MONTH where expectations of economists were smashed. Here’s a quick breakdown of three notable areas of growth within the private sector:
- Leisure and hospitality: +48,000 new jobs.
- Transportation and warehousing: +5,800 new jobs.
- Construction: +4,000 new jobs — the fourth straight month of job increases.
Let’s also zoom out and look at how Americans have been experiencing growth as well. Wages for hardworking Americans continue to rise, with real average hourly earnings having increased by nearly 4% over the past year. This was yet another outcome that defied expectations by economists. Since President Trump took office in January of last year, real disposable personal income has risen, on an annual basis, by 7.5%. This is more than three times the pace than the final year of the previous administration.
And there’s one final fact you should know: since President Trump took office, 99.8% of job gains have been in the private sector. Compared to the final two years of the previous administration, one in four jobs that were created were government jobs. As you can tell, this is a vast improvement, and one that is very noteworthy. Rest assured that I’ll continue to support the pro-growth policies that continue to help hardworking Americans and the entire nation prosper.
Defending Parental Rights
In case you missed it, the Committee on Education and Workforce recently held a hearing to examine how school districts are losing sight of their core mission: educating students. I will tell you that what I heard in this hearing was downright appalling and should concern every single parent across this nation. We have seen countless examples of school districts sidelining parents from major decisions involving their children, as well as the safety, privacy, and well-being of children being compromised by educators and administrators who harbor ideological and political agendas. This is entirely unacceptable, and I demanded answers from the superintendents who recently appeared before the Committee.

A Piece of American History
Can you believe it’s almost here? We are officially less than one month away from celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. In previous newsletters, I’ve highlighted various resources on public, educational events that help tell the story of our nation’s founding, as well as ones that highlight North Carolina’s history in its founding of America as well. As Independence Day draws closer, I want to ensure that you have information on various celebrations that will occur across the state – from the mountains to the coast. This is an exciting time, and I hope you’ll consider attending events that interest you.

Quote of The Week
"The more people tell you it's not possible, that it can't be done, the more you should be absolutely determined to prove them wrong. Treat the word 'impossible' as nothing more than motivation."
