Foxx Report

Positive things are happening within the nation’s economy thanks to the policies that President Trump and our Republican majorities continue to champion. Consider the recent jobs report that was issued for the month of March as proof. 178,000 new jobs were added to the economy across multiple sectors. That result is nearly triple the number that various economists had forecasted. Our unified, pro-growth agenda continues to deliver in the right ways and for the right reasons.

Here are the points from last month’s jobs report that you need to know:

  • 15,000 new manufacturing jobs were added in the month of March –capping off the first quarter of 2026 with the first positive manufacturing job growth in three years.
  • 26,000 construction jobs were added in March.
  • Thus far in 2026, the economy has added an average of 68,000 jobs per month so far this year — a clear improvement over 2025 and significantly outperforming economists’ expectations.
  • Private sector weekly earnings have climbed 3.9% over the past year, delivering real gains for American workers.
  • Women aged 25-54 hit a record-high labor force participation rate in March, while prime-age male participation remains near its highest level since 2009.

The economic trajectory of the nation remains positive, and there’s certainly more progress to be made in the days and months ahead. Last month’s jobs report has many people saying that there’s good, forward momentum. As Chair of the Rules Committee, I’m particularly eager to continue advancing the policies that will help our economy, our nation, and every American prosper even further.

My Latest Interview

Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal on her podcast, All Things with Kim Strassel. We discussed the current happenings within Congress, the Democrats’ refusal to fund the Department of Homeland Security, and other legislative items that our Republican majority is looking to advance for the remainder of this congress. I have always enjoyed reading Kim’s conservative commentary over the years and have enjoyed watching her frequent appearances on the nightly news. This was an exciting conversation, and one that I hope you will listen to in its entirety.

A Piece of American History

The Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battle of the American Revolution, took place in mid-April of 1775 in Massachusetts between the colonists and the British. In an effort to crush mounting dissent among the colonists, British forces marched into Lexington and Concord with the plan of seizing the colonists’ weapons to prevent an uprising. In both towns, this plan failed miserably, and alongside suffering an estimated loss of 300 soldiers, the British were forced to retreat back to their ships that were anchored within the waterways of Boston.
