Foxx Report

Let me be crystal clear: Israel has, and will continue to have, our full and unwavering support. As our longstanding ally works to rescue the remaining hostages still being held by Hamas while also carrying out its important goal of eliminating these brutal terrorists from the face of the earth, I will continue my full-throated support of Israel’s right to defend itself. My position has not changed. My position will not change.

The simple truth is that throughout history, Israel has made numerous concessions in the pursuit of peace while seeking only the right to exist. Despite this, Hamas orchestrated barbaric attacks against Israel on October 7th that led to countless deaths of its civilians and the hostage taking of Israelis and Americans. As part of our united response to these horrific attacks, this week, House Republicans passed H.Res.793, a resolution entitled “Calling on Hamas to immediately release hostages taken during October 2023 attack on Israel”, and H.Res.888, a resolution that reaffirms the State of Israel’s right to exist. I was proud to cast my vote in favor of both resolutions when they came to the House floor for a vote. Again, my position on supporting Israel will not change.

What’s more, as part of our united efforts, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, that I chair, will be holding a full Committee hearing on December 5th titled “Holding Campus Leaders Accountable and Confronting Antisemitism.” Over the past several weeks, we have all seen countless examples of antisemitic demonstrations on college campuses across the nation. Meanwhile, college administrators have largely stood by, allowing horrific rhetoric to fester and grow. College and university presidents have a responsibility to foster and uphold a safe learning environment for their students and staff. Now is not a time for indecision or milquetoast statements. By holding this hearing, we are shining the spotlight on these campus leaders and demanding they take the appropriate action to stand strong against antisemitism.

Hamas is solely to blame for the crimes against humanity they commit against a peaceful people who wish only to reside in the land given to them centuries ago. Rest assured that you can count on my feeling as strongly as you do in support of Israel and will be fully committed to provide complete military and humanitarian aid during this time of crisis to ensure the complete destruction of Hamas. As we move forward, I will continue to update you on our work to support our nation’s longstanding, strategic ally.

We Will Get Answers

Last week, I issued a subpoena to Department of Labor Acting Secretary Julie Su for documents related to the “Workers’ Voice Summit” (Summit) hosted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). In four separate instances, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce raised concerns about the political nature of the Summit which was funded by taxpayer dollars. The Committee is asking for simple answers from OSHA and Acting Secretary Su. The fact that the Committee must issue a subpoena to compel the agency to do its job and be forthcoming is outrageous. That kind of behavior may fly in the Biden administration, but not here in the People’s House.

New Scam Update

According to the Federal Trade Commission, older Americans lost $1.6 billion in 2022 to a wide variety of scams – one of the most common being via artificial intelligence scams. Now, you may have heard of these scams before, but as a refresher, artificial intelligence scams can involve telephone calls that mimic the voices of loved ones who may be in distress. Then, the scammer on the other end of the line will demand large quantities of money. Simply put, this scam is both elaborate and highly nefarious.
