Foxx Report

It’s time for an update. Alongside the House Oversight Committee, the Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees remain laser focused on investigating the Department of Justice’s rampant misconduct in the criminal investigation of Hunter Biden. Unfortunately, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is now attempting to thwart our investigations and throw us off the scent by muzzling the Secret Service from responding to our inquiries. If the Biden family is so desperate to stonewall investigations – and has now resorted to colluding with federal agencies to do so – what is really being hidden from the American people? I can assure you that we are not taking this issue lightly.

As a refresher, at the beginning of July, all three committees sent letters to the Secret Service regarding the tip off about Hunter Biden’s planned interview with investigators. At the time, the Secret Service responded by saying, “we … anticipate having more information for you shortly.” As we have come to learn, DHS and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas intervened and blocked the Secret Service from issuing a response. In my July 28th newsletter to you, I provided background information on this issue and what was learned through the Oversight Committee’s recent interview with IRS whistleblowers.

In total, Chairman Comer of the Oversight Committee, of which I am a member, has now issued six separate subpoenas to DHS and the Secret Service. These subpoenas:

  • Compel Secretary Mayorkas to provide all documents and communications regarding the Biden transition team being tipped off about Hunter Biden’s planned interview.
  • Require the production of all documents and communications related to Congress’ request.
  • Require depositions with five DHS and Secret Service employees who were involved in providing the response to Congress.

Our investigative efforts put transparency first for the American people. As such, we will continue to put the Biden administration’s feet to the fire and hold it accountable for running egregious interference for the Biden family’s corruption and criminal activity.

My Latest Interview

This week, I joined the Students Over Systems podcast hosted by Ginny Gentles of the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF). In our discussion, I lay out the case as to why education freedom in America is crucial. Simply put, a government-run monopoly on education is outdated and fails both students and families – students deserve the opportunity to learn in the environment that works best for them. What’s more, we also discuss how House Republicans are taking meaningful steps to restore the rights of parents across our nation. It’s undeniable that parents are the primary stakeholders in their children’s education.

Halting The Free College Scheme

On Tuesday, Representative Lisa McClain joined me in introducing a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn President Biden’s reckless income-driven repayment (IDR) rule—known as “Savings on a Valuable Education (SAVE)” plan. Experts estimate that President Biden’s so-called “SAVE” plan could leave taxpayers on the hook for as much as $559 billion, making it the costliest regulation in U.S. history. What’s more, 80 percent of students will never fully repay their loans under this proposal, which will leave taxpayers – even if they never went to college – to foot the bill. In some instances, graduate students’ loans will be subsidized more than low-income households receiving federal housing assistance or Medicare benefits.
