The work of our Republican majority continues. This week, I led a meeting at the Rules Committee where we considered four important pieces of legislation that relate to the Small Business Administration and the reauthorizing of programs related to opioid use disorder. Following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and our district work period last week – in which I was very active across the 5th District – we have returned to our post to further advance the American people’s mandate.
Here are the four bills that passed the House this week that I have referenced above:
- H.R. 2483, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act of 2025, reauthorizes programs that provide for opioid use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery.
- H.R. 2931, the Save SBA from Sanctuary Cities Act of 2025, would require the U.S. Small Business Administration to relocate offices located in jurisdictions that have adopted sanctuary policies.
- H.R. 2966, the American Entrepreneurs First Act of 2025, protects hardworking taxpayers by ensuring that lawful, eligible applicants are the only ones who can access programs that are administered by the Small Business Administration.
- H.R. 2987, the Capping Excessive Awarding of SBLC Entrants Act of 2025, amends the Small Business Act to require a limit on the number of small business lending companies.
With the White House having sent its rescissions request this week, House Republicans will now turn to codifying $9.4 billion in cuts to wasteful spending that were identified by DOGE. As Speaker Johnson said this week, the House will bring this package of cuts to the floor for a full vote as quickly as possible. I look forward to updating you when that happens.
Safeguarding Parental Rights
Recently I joined Jordan Brewer and Neal McCluskey of the Cato Institute to discuss parental rights in America and the anniversary of Pierce v. Society of Sisters – a landmark case that came before the Supreme Court 100 years ago. Along with discussing how to protect the rights of good, responsible parents, we also discussed legislation that I’ve supported such as the Parents Bill of Rights Act and the Families Rights and Responsibilities Act.

New Scam Alert
Recently, I read an article in the Washington Times that covered how to avoid charity scams that target veterans, and I want to share some information with you. There are many organizations across the nation that work in good faith to support our nation’s veterans – but there are also many that are fraudulent and take advantage of the goodwill of those who wish to support veterans causes. Per the article, there are two reliable sources of information that can provide you with verified facts about charitable organizations you may choose to engage with: Charity Navigator and CharityWatch.
