Foxx Report

Just a few short weeks ago, House Republicans cut $1.6 trillion in waste, fraud, and abuse by passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act – this week, we took things further. Yesterday, we passed H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, that eliminates $9.4 billion in DOGE-identified wasteful spending at the State Department, USAID, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and within other entities. The efforts of the staff at DOGE, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and the rest of President Trump’s watchdogs have been herculean, and I’m particularly pleased to see all the progress that has been made to codify the elimination of wasteful spending. The passage of this rescissions package is an exercise in restoring fiscal sanity that was torched by the Biden-Harris administration.

Would you like to see a just a few examples of the insane spending that we’re cutting? I have the receipts:

  • $14 million in cash vouchers for migrants at our southern border;
  • $24,000 for a national spelling bee in Bosnia;
  • $1.5 million to “mobilize elderly, lesbian, transgender, non-binary, and intersex people to be involved in the Costa Rica political process”;
  • $20,000 for a drag show in Ecuador; and
  • $32,000 for an LGBTQ comic book in Peru.

Those examples barely skim the surface. It’s really no wonder why Americans are outraged that their hard-earned tax dollars are being squandered. This money is the American people’s money. A single dollar of taxpayer money wasted is one too many. It’s clear that discretionary waste, like what I’ve mentioned above, needs to be put through the congressional shredder – and we have done just that.

I was proud to lead debate on the House floor on H.R. 4 this week and call attention to the real work Republicans are doing to slash waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government. Our work is far from over, and I’ll continue to help lead the charge to advance President Trump’s agenda and deliver upon the American people’s mandate from last November.

A Good Cause

This Wednesday, Republicans defeated the Democrats at the Congressional Baseball Game by a score of 13-2. This was our fifth straight win in this annual bipartisan game that helps raise money for local charities. This year, a record-breaking $2.81 million was raised for charities such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington and others. Since this contest began in 1909, it has grown in popularity – and it serves as a concrete example that the two parties can still work together in support of good causes.

Quote of The Week

“Treat each federal dollar as if it was hard earned; it was – by a taxpayer.”
