The winning continues. This week, House Republicans – led by Speaker Johnson – passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and delivered yet again upon the American people’s mandate from November and President Trump’s agenda. It was certainly a busy week, and a lot of hard work was put in to make this happen. I led a meeting at the Rules Committee that lasted more than 20 hours, and we successfully delivered the One Big Beautiful Bill Act straight to the House floor for a vote. I cannot overstate how pleased I am to have voted in favor of this bill, and to have worked alongside such dedicated colleagues to make this all come to fruition.
Now, I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of misleading rhetoric about this bill that has been thrown around by the talking heads in the mainstream media as well as online. I certainly heard my fair share of distorted talking points and false claims this week from my Democrat colleagues – and every step of the way, Republicans corrected the record and called out the fearmongering and falsehoods. The facts always shine brightest. Speaking of facts, I encourage you to read my opening statement at the Rules Committee from Monday morning where I lay them all on the table and put to bed a lot of false narratives that have been spun up as of late. You can also watch House Republicans lay out even more facts during the debate on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that occurred on Thursday morning.
The bottom line is that the express purpose of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is to ensure that our federal spending, taxation, and other revenue generating concepts align with the current needs of the American people. Some continue to parrot the erroneous claim that this legislation is about giving tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires while slashing programs and kneecapping Americans. No, those are flat out lies that have been regurgitated time and again by many who oppose our mission of turning this great country around and rejecting failed policies of the previous administration. I’m continuing to fight every day, as was evidenced this week, to make sure America is put on a brighter, more prosperous path. My vote in favor of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act works to achieve just that.
A Very Positive Victory
In early May, I shared with you how the Take It Down Act, legislation that helps protect children from malicious digital content online, passed on a bipartisan basis in the House. As a refresher, this legislation was supported by the First Lady of the United States and highlighted by President Trump during his Joint Address to Congress this year. On Monday, President Trump signed this important piece of legislation into law and delivered a very positive victory for parents and children across the nation. I’m very proud to have voted in favor of the Take It Down Act and to have supported such an important endeavor.
