Foxx Report

The Communist Chinese Party is an existential threat to the liberty, freedoms, values, and security of the United States – there is no doubt about it. Right now, there is only one response that is appropriate: to restore the strength and dominance of our nation so this threat can be countered and snuffed out. The Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy focuses more on appeasing and emboldening our adversaries than it does stopping them dead in their tracks. When America’s foreign policy is ironclad, our adversaries know it is in their best interest to tread lightly.

House Republicans see the Communist Chinese Party for the threat it really is. This week, we have passed several separate pieces of legislation to address pressing national security concerns, protect American innovation, and increase America’s competitive advantage on the global stage.

H.R. 1398 reinstates and renames the China Initiative as the CCP Initiative to counter the CCP and Chinese government’s espionage efforts on U.S. intellectual property and academic institutions.

H.R. 1516 restricts funding to American institutions of higher education (IHE) that maintain a relationship with a Chinese entity of concern or Confucius Institute.

H.R. 7980 amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to exclude vehicles with batteries that contain materials sourced from foreign entities of concern from the clean vehicle credit.

H.R. 9456 requires the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to review and potentially block purchases of farmland by foreign adversaries that pose a national security risk.

I was very proud to cast my vote in favor of these separate pieces of legislation. The Communist Chinese Party must be put in check, and our work this week moved us in the right direction. America’s interests should always be put first and protected every step of the way – not the interests of our adversaries.

My Amendment Passed

This week, the House passed my key amendment to H.R. 1425, the No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act. My amendment clarifies that no convention or agreement negotiated by the World Health Organization can affect U.S. law unless the United States Senate ratifies it as a treaty which takes a two-thirds vote of the Senate. My amendment is a win for American sovereignty, and it strikes a serious blow to the global bureaucracy. The World Health Organization does not dictate America’s policy agenda – Americans are the ones calling the shots.

A Follow Up

As you may have seen, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently released its August jobs report showing that, yet again, the number of jobs added to the economy missed expectations. File this away as another indicator of how the Biden-Harris administration’s misguided policies continue to crater the economy – the trend is crystal clear and continues to deteriorate. That said, remember what I have shared with you previously about how these numbers are often quietly scrubbed and revised downward. Just last month, we learned that reported job growth was 30% less than what BLS previously reported. It is a good idea to apply a healthy dose of skepticism to these jobs reports whenever they are released – the facts tell you a different and more accurate story than what the Biden-Harris administration wants you to believe.
