Yes, you did read that headline correctly. For months, I have been outspoken about my unwavering support for Ukraine, its citizens, and its freedom from tyrannical regimes. I have called for the harshest sanctions imaginable to be leveled against Vladimir Putin and Russia for their unprovoked attack against Ukraine. The weight of their unprecedented display of aggression falls upon the shoulders of the entire world, and we must rise to meet this moment.

Last week, the Russian Foreign Ministry sanctioned members of Congress who continue to stand with Ukraine. I am happy to report that my name is in fact on that list. I view it as a badge of honor – one that I am very proud to wear. Russia can sanction me all they want, but I will not be deterred in standing up and defending Ukraine. I certainly won’t be intimidated.

I’ve supported several pieces of legislation such as the American Ammo in Defense of Ukraine Act, the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022, and the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act that would deal a severe blow to Russia’s current posture and provide Ukraine with the weapons, ammunition, and aid it desperately needs. My record in support of Ukraine is clear. At such an important moment for not only America, but also the entire world, we cannot afford to sit on the sidelines.

The footage and intelligence reports that continue to stream out of Ukraine are harrowing. Residential buildings and homes continue to be shelled. Underground train stations are being turned into makeshift shelters for families. Missiles continue to rain down from the sky. However, we have seen something else happen at the very same moment, and something that possesses more power than any bomb or ammunition round: the resolve of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.

Russia’s continued onslaught in Ukraine is an issue that I do not take lightly. You can rest assured that I will continue to call attention to this issue and support the people of Ukraine. Vladimir Putin and Russia must be brought to their knees.

An Important Update

On Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle voided the Biden administration’s mask mandate for travelers on public transportation and ruled that the mandate from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was both “arbitrary” and “capricious”. In my newsletter to you last week, I discussed my ongoing efforts in the People’s House to end this absurd mandate so that we can return to normalcy – and not remain stuck in the permanent pandemic mindset that this administration continues to prolong. This is an undeniable win for the American people!

New Scam Alert

There’s a new scam on Facebook that you need to know about. The North Carolina Department of Justice announced that scammers who are claiming to be employees of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are contacting North Carolinians and attempting to steal their hard-earned money. These scammers will claim that you’ve won a cash prize, but you will need to send them money first before claiming it. This is commonly referred to as a “play-to-win” scheme.

Below are three tips from the North Carolina Department of Justice that can help you avoid these scams:

• Know that government employees will never contact you through Facebook or any other social media.

• If a person you don’t know asks you to pay a deposit to earn a prize, it’s a scam.

• If you are contacted by a government employee, call their agency with a number listed on the agency’s website to see if it’s legitimate.
