Families in the 5th District are sick and tired of President Biden’s inflation catastrophe stabbing them in the back. Every month of his presidency, inflation has continued to grow like a brush fire – with no end in sight. On Tuesday, we received new information on how devastating inflation has become. These numbers will both shock and infuriate you.
On March 18th, I highlighted that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) had increased to an annual rate of 7.9%. That same month, the CPI hit its highest rate in over 40 years. In fact, the CPI has increased 8.5% over the past 12 months – the highest rate since December of 1981. Everyone should be concerned with the direction that our country is headed.
Predictably, the Biden administration has not gotten the memo. Instead of addressing rising inflation, they have now conjured up the new narrative of “Putin’s Price Hike” to save face and pull the wool over our eyes. Do not be fooled, this is Biden’s Price Hike, and the blame falls squarely upon his shoulders. That’s the simple truth.
What exactly does this new inflation spike mean for families and hardworking taxpayers in the 5th District? What has happened to the prices of commodities that they rely on? As always, I’m bringing you the facts:
- Used vehicles are UP 35.3%
- Fresh and frozen chicken is UP 15.1%
Some economists are even estimating that the probability of a recession in the next 12 months is as high as 70%. Not to mention, real wages have declined by over 3% since President Biden came into office. Now, earnings are not keeping up with the rate of inflation. Every day, I’m fighting to protect families and hardworking taxpayers in the 5th District from the spending schemes and disgraceful policies that Washington Democrats are attempting to push through the People’s House. I’m not holding back because I know what’s truly at stake. You can always count on me to be your voice.
Fighting Back Against China
Last Friday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) selected me as a conferee to produce legislation intended to strengthen America’s deterrence to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) geopolitical threats. The CCP has proven over decades that it will deploy any scheme, no matter how subversive, to incapacitate the safety and prosperity of our republic. As the Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor, I firmly believe that substantive reforms are required to bolster America’s workforce and deter the CCP’s influence within our institutions of higher education.

Masks on Public Transportation
Recently, I signed on as a cosponsor to H.J.Res 72, a joint resolution led by Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC) that would nullify the CDC rule requiring the use of face masks on public transportation to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. If you recall from my newsletter on March 25th, I have also signed on to a letter led by Representative Sam Graves (R-MO) and Representative Garrett Graves (R-LA) to President Biden demanding that the TSA reverse its decision to extend its mask mandate. The “permanent pandemic” narrative has been used by the Biden administration for far too long. I have also signed on as a cosponsor to H.J.Res.46, legislation that would end the COVID-19 national emergency declaration. America must return to normal.
