I remain committed to ensuring that our nation’s infrastructure is built to last for the American families, businesses and entrepreneurs who rely on it. As Chairwoman of the Rules Committee, I helped secure the passage of H.R. 9497, the Water Resources Development Act of 2026, commonly known as WRDA. This legislation authorizes critical U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects to improve navigation, reduce flood risk, restore aquatic ecosystems, and support other water-resource needs by developing water supply and building resilience against drought. The projects supported by WRDA provide communities with the infrastructure they need to maintain critical waterways, protect against flooding and support economic activity--all of which is dependent on maintaining navigable waterways.
For too long, construction projects—including for our roads, bridges and other projects--have been delayed by unnecessary red tape and burdensome regulations. As Chairwoman of the House Committee on Rules, I was proud to pass H.R. 4776, the SPEED Act through my committee and vote in its favor on the House floor. This important bill modernizes the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and drastically shortens the timelines of critical infrastructure projects while decreasing overall cost.
