FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Today Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05) hosted Congressman John Mica (FL-07) for a tour of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. Congressman Mica, a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee joined Foxx, along with Winston-Salem Mayor Joines, other city officials and local leaders to discuss and examine important transportation issues. After the tour, Congressman Mica issued the following statement, “In response to Congresswoman Foxx’s request, I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with local community leaders and discuss transportation projects in the greater Winston-Salem area. “It is critical that the I-40 corridor be reconstructed without adversely effecting commerce in that corridor. We also discussed plans to revitalize the downtown area. As a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I intend to work with Congresswoman Foxx as she moves forward with local and private sector leaders to accomplish these vital initiatives,” Mica concluded. “I was pleased that Congressman John Mica, a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee was able to visit Winston-Salem and Forsyth Country to address important transportation projects to the 5th district.
