Returning from Washington, D.C.
to start a short recess on Friday, February 18, 2005, Congresswoman Virginia
Foxx was able to make time in her busy schedule to stop by to visit the Elms at
Tanglewood Assisted Living. Accepting our invitation, she was able to come to
see the Elms and give us a chance to welcome our new U.S. Representative. As
Congresswoman Foxx entered the Elms she was greeted by one of our eldest
residents, Bessie Johnson, who turned 101 on February 21. Congressman Foxx
toured throughout the community. Guiding the tour was Administrator, Charlotte
Tullock,a long with NCALA Executive Director, Jerry Cooper. Greeting residents,
Congresswoman Foxx stopped in to visit with residents who had just finished
shopping in the bingo store, introduced herself to residents relaxing in our
numerous living areas and discussed the politics of current times with resident
Bernice Everhart in the ice cream parlor. Our hope is that by having our
lawmakers come visit and see for themselves…they will have a better
understanding of the assisted living industry and the needs of the residents.
