Foxx honors Winston-Salem artist in speech in House

Winston-Salem Journal

Earline "Heath" King has been a fixture in Winston-Salem artistic life for more than 50 years. Last night, Congress learned how important she is.

Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-5th, spoke on the floor of the House, honoring King and the work she has done.

"Mrs. King's artistic career is one of tremendous inspiration and talent," Foxx said.

Foxx detailed King's accomplishments, including styling hats for Greta Garbo and creating portraits of such notable figures as Sir Winston Churchill.

King was not in the gallery at the time of Foxx's remarks. Instead, she and a group of her friends and family were gathered at a nearby restaurant to celebrate. The group traveled from Winston-Salem to Washington on Monday and spent much of yesterday touring the Capitol.
