The National Republican Congressional Committee surprised Rep. Virginia Foxx with the 2010 Ronald Reagan Award at their annual March dinner.

Foxx, a Republican who represents the state’s Fifth District, which includes Stokes, Yadkin, Surry and Davie counties, as well as parts of Forsyth County, was honored for her work as a leader of the Republican Party.

The Ronald Reagan Award is chosen annually, based on a member of Congress’ leadership following the former president’s beliefs in a strong national defense and fiscal conservatism, according to an announcement from Foxx’s office.

“Virginia works hard for her country,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions. “She stands as a model conservative, inspiring others to partake in the great experiment of democracy."
