U.S. Rep. Viriginia Foxx was sworn in Wednesday as a member of the 112th Congress.
But unlike her last two oaths, this one places Foxx back into the majority with her fellow members of the Republican Caucus.

“I’ve been in the majority before,” Foxx said of her first term, which began in 2005. “And I’ve been in the minority these past four years. Let me tell you, the majority is better.”
During a conversation with the R&L, Foxx said Wednesday’s swearing in of the new Congress “is always a good day in America, regardless of party. Any time you have a peaceful transition of power, it’s a good day.”

Foxx said the GOP now seems to be the more unified of the two major parties, as represented by their solidarity in electing John Boehner as new speaker of the house.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi won her new seat as Minorty Leader by a vote of 150-43, with North CarolinaRep. Heath Shuler, a conservative Democrat, opposing her.
And now, Foxx said, she and her colleagues intend “to do the will of the people.”

The first item on the agenda of that undertaking is to repeal or dismantle the much-ballyhooed health care package that survived narrow votes in both chambers of Congress last year and was signed into law byPresident Obama.

Foxx said she expects the repeal legislation to pass the House but that it may get snagged in the Senate.
