Rep. Virginia Foxx presented U.S. Marine Corps veteran and native of Ashe County, Brett Bush, with the Purple Heart.
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) presented U.S. Marine Corps veteran Brett Bush of Ashe County with the Purple Heart, a medal given to members of the military wounded or killed by enemy action or in action against the enemy on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Bush served eight years as a U.S. Marine, earning the rank of sergeant. He was wounded in Afghanistan on Nov. 26, 2010, during his third tour. Bush was sworn in as a trooper for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in Jan. 2015 and serves in Forsyth County. “It is always an honor to assist veterans, and it was a privilege to help Sgt. Bush obtain the Purple Heart that he earned for his service,” Foxx said. “America’s troops do not take risks for their own gain. They do so for others – for their colleagues, for their families and for their country. Liberty is bought and paid for by the incomprehensible generosity of patriots like Sgt. Bush, who has continued to serve the public good by helping maintain the safety of the highways of North Carolina.” In addition to helping residents of North Carolina’s 5th District navigate the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Foxx’s office is available to assist veterans with replacing military medals that have been lost or stolen as well as obtaining medals that still need to be presented. http://jeffersonpost.com/news/840/foxx-presents-purple-heart-to-local-veteran |
