Fifth District U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx will be a co-chair of the committee that will write the Republican Party’s platform at the national convention in Cleveland in July.

U.S. Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming will be chairman and Gov. Mary Fallin of Oklahoma will be the other co-chair.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus announced the appointments Tuesday.

Foxx is a Watauga County Republican and a former president of Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine.
