Foxx Statement on Planned Parenthood’s Withdrawal from Title X Program
Washington,
August 21, 2019
WASHINGTON – Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) released the following statement on Planned Parenthood’s decision to opt out of receiving Title X funding: “I applaud our pro-life president for keeping his promises to protect all life and to ensure that taxpayers do not subsidize abortion providers like Planned Parenthood that have been receiving Title X funds for family planning services. Planned Parenthood’s decision to opt out of the Title X Program is a win for American taxpayers and true healthcare providers that do not call the taking innocent human life a “family planning service.” My bill, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, would take the next step by codifying this rule so that Congressional intent of the Title X Program, as restored by President Trump, cannot again be undermined. Finally, you won’t hear this in the mainstream media, but women already have many other options than Planned Parenthood for family planning services. There are thousands of federally qualified health centers nationwide that provide truly comprehensive women’s healthcare, and they can be conveniently located at findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov.” ### U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th Congressional District and is Republican Leader of the House Committee on Education and Labor. |
