Foxx Issues Statement On USPS Oversight Hearing
Washington,
August 24, 2020
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement on Postmaster General DeJoy’s appearance before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee: “Without question, decorum within the People’s House has been decimated, and hyper-partisan vitriol has taken its place. For six hours today, Democrats on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee tore down Postmaster DeJoy in what can be only be described as a drive-by political smear campaign. Their actions are below the dignity of this institution, and they continue to disregard the solemn duties of the offices they hold. “This is an unprecedented course that Democrats have taken, and the American people should be frightened. Facts have been abandoned, common-sense approaches to good governance have been disregarded, and mob rule has taken hold. Instead of adhering to the facts and working with Postmaster DeJoy and Republicans to improve the operations within the Postal Service, they used their bully pulpit as the majority to peddle falsehoods that skew their narrative to the extreme. Today, the American people saw the Democrat agenda for what it truly is: nothing more than a campaign to descend the House of Representatives, and the United States, into madness.” ### U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th Congressional District and is Republican Leader of the House Committee on Education and Labor. |
