WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement on the National Day of Prayer: “Today, millions of Americans from across the country will gather in fellowship to humbly ask God for His wisdom and guidance. Since the Continental Congress first declared the National Day of Prayer in 1775, our country’s leaders have called the nation to prayer in times of turbulence and in times of peace. It is undeniable that prayer is our indispensable tool because it allows us to acknowledge that we are all God’s children and that we must rely on Him to guide our lives in the right direction. “The founding fathers sought the Lord’s guidance while they were forming our country, and to this day, we continue to do so. Simply put, prayer is as powerful and necessary today as it was then. May God continue to provide us all with the strength, wisdom and resolve as we need to meet the challenges ahead.” |
