WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after presenting the Purple Heart Medal to United States Army Sergeant LeRoy Lewis Watkins:

“Assisting our nation’s veterans is a solemn responsibility that I take very seriously – my dedicated staff is always standing at the ready to help. It was an honor to help Sergeant Watkins obtain the Purple Heart he earned for his service to our great nation. His selfless sacrifices – as well as those made by countless other brave patriots – deserve to be both recognized and revered.”

In addition to helping residents of North Carolina’s 5th District navigate the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Representative Foxx’s office is available to assist veterans with replacing military medals that have been lost or stolen as well as obtaining medals that still need to be presented.
