NAMA's Eric Dell Roundtables With Republican Leaders
NAMA's government affairs division recently participated in a food and beverage roundtable with the republican conference leadership in the U.S. Congress. “It was very exciting to join industry coalition partners in presenting our policy positions to Republican leadership of the U.S. House,” said Eric Dell, NAMA senior vice president of government affairs, in a prepared statement. “On behalf of NAMA, I thank Republican Conference Chair, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and her staff for organizing this valuable discussion. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to participate and help lead.” Elected Republican leadership in attendance included: Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Wash., conference chair; Congressman James Langford, Okla., Republican policy chairman; and Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, N.C., conference secretary. “Participating in discussions before U.S. House leadership raises the bar for NAMA’s federal advocacy efforts,” said Dell. “An important element of the events today include working alongside industry partners, specifically the American Beverage Association; American Bakers Association; Food Marketing Institute; International Foodservice Distributors Association and Jeff Shapiro of Peck, Madigan, Jones," he continued. Dell discussed policy issues related to calorie disclosure and pending regulations at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recently released interim final rules on competitive foods sold in schools from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and challenges related to healthy food and beverage restrictions on the vending channel. |
