U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC Fifth District) visited High County Community Health on March 8 to tour its facilities and meet with staff.
The Boone-based health care provider, which also serves Avery County, makes its services available to any patient regardless of insurance coverage. The offices accept private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, and for the uninsured, a sliding fee scale is available based on income. HCCH is a federally qualified health center, meaning it receives funding from the U.S. government’s Health Resources and Services Administration. In 2015, HCCH saw 5,500 patients during more than 22,000 visits. According to Bryan Belcher, the organization’s chief information officer, there is currently a five-month waiting list for dental services offered by HCCH. While HCCH is currently in the process of applying for a grant to increase its volume, Belcher said he hoped that Foxx’s visit would show her the importance of and demand for the organization in the High Country. http://www.wataugademocrat.com/news/foxx-visits-high-country-community-health/article_a9e03c0b-95cf-57d0-b2b3-a7c74feb6e32.html |
