Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.), as expected, will serve as the next chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Foxx, who chairs the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Training, was tapped Dec. 1 by the House Republican Steering Committee to replace retiring Rep. John Kline (R-Minn.). She is expected to help lead the GOP charge against a wide range of Obama administration labor initiatives once President-elect Donald Trump moves into the White House.

Foxx told Bloomberg BNA after the November election she wants Congress to undo the Labor Department's overtime rule and new conflict-of-interest standards for retirement investment brokers, among other moves.

Foxx also said she wants to update federal law to roll back the National Labor Relations Board's expanded joint employer liability standard.

Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.) is widely expected to return as the committee's ranking member next year.
