WASHINGTON – Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., today praised passage of legislation to change Obamacare’s 30-hour definition of “full-time employment” and restore the traditional 40-hour workweek. 

“From adjunct professors to hourly workers, I have heard from constituents across North Carolina’s 5th District who have one thing in common - their hours are being reduced,” said Foxx. “Obamacare has placed an undue burden on employers and their employees by undermining the 40-hour work week, which has long been the standard for full-time work. This legislation will help protect the estimated 2.6 million Americans at-risk for lost hours and wages at work under this destructive rule.”

The employer mandate in Obamacare defines a full-time employee as someone who works an average of at least 30 hours a week. H.R. 30, the Save American Workers Act, passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 252 to 172.
