Foxx Statement on Decision in Executive Overreach Lawsuit
Washington,
May 12, 2016
WASHINGTON – Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., today released the following statement regarding a federal judge’s decision that the Obama administration has been unlawfully funding an Obamacare subsidy program:
“Our Constitution was drafted deliberately to ensure that the greatest power in our government resided closest to the people. In Article I, the framers placed the ultimate power of creating and changing laws with the Congress. “The House of Representatives is determined to maintain the constitutionally-mandated separation of legislative and executive powers, and today’s decision is a victory against President Obama’s unprecedented power grab.” On July 30, 2014, the House of Representatives approved H.Res. 676, a resolution authorizing the House to enter into litigation against President Obama. U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx represents North Carolina’s 5th Congressional District and is the elected Republican Conference Secretary. Dr. Foxx is the chair of the House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Higher Education and serves as Vice Chair of the House Rules Committee. |
